Haberdashery

I've been absolutely swamped with school work for the past few days. I've been working ahead a little in preparation for my Easter Break, which I finally have planned. I've booked flights to Brisbane and Cairns, and I'll be gone for a total of 14 days. I am going with Donald, Jeff, Jess, and Brandon.

We are flying to Brisbane on the 4th, and spending 5 days there. We'll spend a night in Surfer's Paradise, and check out Steve Irwin's zoo. I've been told that the zoo is incredible, and to plan to stay there for the whole day. We're flying out on the 9th, and heading to Cairns. Once we get there, we'll pick up the rental car (I'll get to drive on the opposite side of the road!), and drive to Port Douglas. We're spending 4 days there, and it is supposed to have some of the nicest reefs in the whole country. Hopefully I'll get to do a little SCUBA Diving. We're heading back to Cairns and finishing up there. We fly back on the 17th.

As far as the train accident goes, I, along with everyone else, am fine. I was in the first car, and all I felt was a little bump and then it just felt like we were slightly derailed. We were all pretty worried when they told us that we'd hit a car on the tracks, but about 10 minutes later they said that there was nobody in the car. Apparantly, it was a brand new car (just bought a few days earlier) and the driver stalled it on the tracks at the intersection. They bailed, and got away before the train hit. It was late at night, and delayed our trip by about 2 hours, but I didn't mind. We actually had a pretty good time of it.

The water polo match was a great time. I've never been to any sort of international competition, and it was a lot of fun to see all the different countries represented by their fans. I don't have all the scores right now, but the US played Croatia and lost 8-10. Serbia, Germany, Japan, Italy, Russia, and China were also there. I still don't understand why there are so many Serbians and Croats in Australia. They were all over the place, and were really good at water polo.

I'll start putting up pictures when the internet gets better, which is supposed to be very soon. I've also found out that grocery stores have a whole aisle devoted to "haberdashery". It's fantastic.

First of all, what is haberdashery? Secondly, you spelled worried wrong! Thirdly, I got offered a part time management position at Fed Ex and I'm writing my resume right now. I'm starting to get a little nervous about the interview but it should be smooth sailing. Hope you have a good 14 day vacation during your 7 day break. Later

Sounds like you've really learned how to get around in that part of the world. See as much of as you can now as you never if you'll get back there again. I'd like to hear you impressions of Steve Irwin Zoo and driving on the wrong side of the road. Have a great "spring" break (I think it's summertime over there)

Marc... I agree with Uncle Bob W -- see as much as you can now as you may never be back in that area again!!! I would also like to hear your impressions of the Steve Irwin Zoo -- sounds like you have a great Spring break planned!! Matt, a 'haberdashery' if I am not mistaken is 'men's wear'!! Matt, good luck with your Fed Ex interview, though I am positive you will do well! Marc, glad to hear that your train wreck, although interested, was uneventful to you physically -- you had us worried! Much luv...

Marc is seems as though your blog as been infiltrated by the Easter Bunny....delete that rodent!

I believe that haberdashery is vintage clothing, what kind of “stuff” is sold in the haberdashery aisle Marc?

Your Easter break plans are exciting, honestly, I can’t imagine you scuba diving. You had better post pictures of that! I’m sure the zoo will be fantastic, the beaches will be gorgeous and the Great Barrier Reef will be amazing. I feel a twinge of envy coming over me. Enjoy every minute of it!

Matt and Marc -- since when does anybody of your generation care about spelling? I’ve seen your text and instant messages. Thank goodness for spell check.

Love you both….Mom

I pride myself on my excellent spelling and grammar... I was in a hurry and it was less of a spelling error than a typographical error.

It's getting into autumn here, Uncle Bob, so it's actually been pretty cold for the past 2 days.

I agree Mom, 'daverichards' will be deleted as soon as I can.

By the way, haberdashery is clothing (or more specifically, men's clothing), but the grocery store uses it more closely in the 'random crap' respect.

And while I'm on the subject of defining words, 'kabash' is not actually a word, but 'kibosh' is. It means "to put an end to" or "squelch".

Am I going to have to define 'squelch' too?

If you had trouble with the last post...
Marc, have a great trip to all of the wonderful places you are traveling to. I'm sure you will have a great time. Please be careful when driving on the wrong side of the road. You don't need to have another accidnet and cause an international incident. By the way, where are all the pictures of the beautiful Australian women? You are holding out on us...
Also, be careful with your attitude, or I will squelch the funding of all your little vacations and ground you.
Love and miss you. Dad

I don't even want to know how long it took for you to type those two messages, Dad... It goes a little slower when you only use your two index fingers.

Better start writing your rebuttal now, or else I'll be home before you're finished.

That's it, you're grounded! Smart ass.

Oh by the way, be careful not to loose your boarding pass.....
